  • Kickstarter Pre-Launch Starts for Immortal's 2nd Comic - Chronicles of the Immortal Swordsmen

Last June, we funded our very first comic book, The Adept, on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter. We are very excited to announce our return to Kickstarter for the next book in the continuation of The Immortal Storyverse – Chronicles of the Immortal Swordsmen (CIS). Written by Immortal Founder/CEO Peter Shiao with art by Gabe Sapienza (Death & Julie, Scare Tales), CIS is about a young man's heroic awakening in an ancient future of warring Immortals facing The Reckoning. It is based on the classic novel by Peter’s father, Shiao Yi, one of the most prolific writers of the martial arts fantasy genre known as Wuxia. If you like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon or The Matrix, you’re going to love this book – one that blends a world of energy powers and magical weapons, the excitement and attitude of the esports culture, and at its core the reawakening of a heroic identity, all within the backdrop of a world where the ancient mystical mountains of China fuse with the relentless urban jungles of today’s Los Angeles, creating something uniquely... an ancient future. Chronicles of the Immortal Swordsmen is being crowdfunded on Kickstarter and its official campaign starts on March 1. We invite you to follow our Pre-Launch page. If you don't already have a Kickstarter account, it will ask you to create one. Every follow for our Pre-Launch is very meaningful so thank you in advance for your support.

  • Article: Rebooting Wuxia, China’s ancient literary genre, with The Adept

For many, the “wǔxiá” 武侠 genre will evoke images from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, the movie that first introduced a fantastical version of Chinese martial arts to Western audiences. But the full wonder of wuxia — including the concepts of jiānghú 江湖 and wǔlín 武林, the realm where martial arts heroes inhabit and the culture that defines these characters’ actions — is regrettably being taken for granted, even in mainland China and Hong Kong. Peter Shiao is trying to change that. Read full article on SupChina
